31st GERMAN-DUTCH TRANSLATION AND LITERATURE COMPETITION

2023 with MAREIKE FALLWICKL

We are very pleased that we have been able to attract the successful author Mareike Fallwickl from Austria for the 31st contest.

Mareike Fallwickl, born in Hallein near Salzburg in 1983, works as a freelance author and lives with her family in Salzburger Land. In 2018, her literary debut “Dark green almost black” was published by Frankfurter Verlagsanstalt and nominated for the Austrian Book Prize as well as for the Independent’s Favourite Book.

This was followed in 2019 by the novel “The Light is Much Brighter Here”, the film rights that have been optioned. She promotes literature on various stages and social media channels, focusing on female narrative voices. 2022 published her latest book, “The Rage That Remains”, about the burden dumped on women and rebelling. In her own words, Mareike Fallwickl wants to “take a revealing look at our society in her novels – without ever losing her sense of humour”.

Literature Competition

DISDH has been the organiser and host of the most important German-Dutch translation competition for pupils for many years. Young people from all over the Netherlands are called upon to translate a passage from well-known works of contemporary German literature into Dutch. Finally, the award ceremony takes place at our school, where the authors are present, and the best translation is honoured.

Wow! We are pleased about 100 registrations for our Literature Competition 2023.
